Bore and Hone
Boring and honing an engine block are critical processes in any engine rebuild or performance upgrade. Over time, cylinder walls wear out from friction, heat, and pressure, leading to power loss, increased oil consumption, and reduced reliability. To restore or enhance engine performance, the block must be machined with absolute precision—and that’s where CNC technology and torque plate honing come in.
Using state-of-the-art CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, we ensure every cylinder is bored with precise alignment, roundness, and consistent sizing. CNC machining eliminates human error and maintains the strict tolerances required for optimal piston and ring fitment.
But precision boring is only part of the equation. during the bore and honing processes we give our customers the option to use a torque plate, (depending on the motor if required or not.) Which simulates the stress and distortion caused when the cylinder heads are bolted to the block. Without a torque plate, cylinders can distort slightly when assembled—leading to uneven ring wear, poor sealing, and reduced performance. Honing with the torque plate in place ensures the cylinder bores are perfectly round under load, as they will be when the engine is running.
